These days a major fair of traders&commerce took place with about 500 participants. The goal is to lessen the costs of living in Israel by opening the gates for import. But the major factor behind the high costs of living is homemade.
However, a first small relief is possible by importing from countries with low productions costs like Turkey. The fare was organized by Federation of Chambers of Israeli Commerce (Tel Aviv) and addressed exports from Turkey seeking business with Israel.
Those accompanying the special event, in cooperation with the Turkish exporters organization TIM and the Israeli Chambers of Commerce Association, are senior representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economy.
Irit Lilian, Israel’s ambassador to Turkey, Matan Safran, Israel’s economic attaché in Turkey, Mehmet Kilikalia, director general of the Turkish Ministry of Economy, Mustafa Gutpeka, president of the Turkish industrialists’ union TIM and more.
Among the delegation from Israel are also members of the presidency of the Chamber of Commerce, Amir Shani, Israela Shtir, Meir Klughaft, Roi Rosenak, Yossi Williger and Reuven Schlissel.
Also with the delegation are the presidents of the regional selection chambers, David Castel, president of the chamber in Haifa, and Yoram Ohion, president of the chamber in Be’er Sheva.
Attorney Uriel Lin, president of the Union of Chambers of Commerce , opened the conference and emphasized the importance of trade relations between the countries: “Turkey is Israel’s fifth trading partner in the world and we intend to contribute to this continuing with full force. Israel is the second exporter of services in the world, relatively speaking, the positive balance of Israeli trade stands at about 21 billion dollars and this will of course not stop with the help of meetings of this type that we are holding today.”
Turkey is the partner in the import of goods, means exports from Turkey to Israel, the fifth largest to Israel (the others are: China, the USA, Switzerland and Germany).
The total export from Turkey to Israel in 2021 amounted to 8.4 billion dollars. The main types of goods imported to Israel (8% of the total goods and more) are textiles, steel and iron, building materials, stones and cement, rubber and plastic, machinery and electrical and mechanical machinery.
Turkey exports 2.5% of the total goods imported to Israel. Turkey is the seventh largest exporter of goods, means exports from Israel to Turkey, to Israel, receiving 2.3% of all goods that Israel exports to the world.
