The watchdog NGO Monitor documented and confronted again the financing of antisemitic NGOs by European states. Europe must stop financing antisemitic NGOs with European tax money.
In the recent press release the watchdog NGO Monitor writes: “On November 29, 2022, the Palestinian NGO Al-
Haq published yet another antisemitic screed dedicated to denying the Jewish people sovereign equality, by defining Zionism and the State of Israel as inherently illegitimate. For 200 pages, the Palestinian NGO – designated as a terrorist entity by Israel in October 2021 over its ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist organization – extorts the international community to dismantle the Jewish State.
To achieve this goal, Al-Haq absurdly distorts Israeli policy and practice beyond recognition, and misrepresents international legal standards. (…)
Al-Haq’s publication is intended to influence the UN Human Rights Council’s permanent Commission of Inquiry’s (the “Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and in Israel,”) plan to formally declare Israel to be committing “apartheid”; to pressure the International Criminal Court to indict Israeli officials for crimes against humanity; and for third states to apply a wide variety of sanctions against Israel, associated institutions, companies, and individuals.”
EU and member states support for Al-Haq
If not for the millions of Euros in support from the EU and its member states Al-Haq has received over several years, the Palestinian NGO would not enjoy nearly the same level of influence and access as it currently does. Despite the organization’s reported ties to the PFLP, and its campaigning to dismantle Israel, Europe has yet to denounce and reject its longtime partner.
While the EU froze financial support to Al-Haq in May 2021 as a result of its links to the PFLP, in June 2022, the organization claimed that this freeze had been lifted – and as yet uncorroborated assertion. (…)
Moreover, Al-Haq is listed as an implementing partner on multi-grantee projects funded by the French (€900,000 for the entire project) and Swedish (Al-Haq receives over $2.5 million of the over $8 million project) governments.”

In der jüngsten Pressemitteilung schreibt der Watchdog NGO Monitor: „Am 29. November 2022 hat die palästinensische NGO Al-Haq einen weiteren antisemitischen Schmutz veröffentlicht, der sich der Leugnung der souveränen Gleichheit des jüdischen Volkes verschrieben hat: Zionismus und den Staat Israel seien von Natur aus illegitim.
Auf 200 Seiten bedrängt die palästinensische NGO – die von Israel im Oktober 2021 wegen ihrer Verbindungen zur Terrororganisation Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) als terroristische Einheit eingestuft wurde – die internationale Gemeinschaft, den jüdischen Staat zu zerschlagen. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, verzerrt Al-Haq die israelische Politik und Praxis auf absurde Weise bis hin zur Unkenntlichkeit und stellt internationale Rechtsnormen falsch dar. (…)
Die Veröffentlichung von Al-Haq soll den Plan der ständigen Untersuchungskommission des UN-Menschenrechtsrates (der „unabhängigen internationalen Untersuchungskommission zu den besetzten palästinensischen Gebieten, einschließlich Ost-Jerusalem und in Israel“) bestärkend beeinflussen, Israel offiziell zur Apartheid zu erklären.
Weiters soll Druck auf den Internationalen Strafgerichtshof ausgeübt werden, um israelische Beamte wegen Verbrechen gegen die Menschlichkeit anklagen zu können und schließlich sollen Drittstaaten, eine Vielzahl von Sanktionen gegen Israel, mit Israel verbundenen Institutionen, Unternehmen und Einzelpersonen erlassen.
Unterstützung der EU und der Mitgliedstaaten für Al-Haq
Ohne die Unterstützung in Millionenhöhe von der EU und ihren Mitgliedsstaaten, die Al-Haq über mehrere Jahre erhalten hat, würde die palästinensische NGO nicht annähernd denselben Einfluss und Zugang genießen wie derzeit.
Trotz wie wegen der Verbindungen der Organisation zur PFLP und ihrer Kampagne zur Zerschlagung Israels muss Europa endlich seinen langjährigen Partner endlich anprangern und abweisen.
Während die EU im Mai 2021 die finanzielle Unterstützung für Al-Haq aufgrund ihrer Verbindungen zur PFLP einfror, behauptete die Organisation im Juni 2022, dass dieses Einfrieren von Mitteln nun aufgehoben worden sei – eine noch unbestätigte Behauptung. (…)
Darüber hinaus ist Al-Haq als Implementierungspartner für Multi-Grantee-Projekte angeführt, die von der französischen (900.000 € für das gesamte Projekt) und der schwedischen (Al-Haq erhält über 2,5 Millionen US-Dollar des über 8 Millionen US-Dollar-Projekts) Regierungen finanziert werden.“
