Israel: Inflation August moderate

According to the ‘Central Bureau of Statistics’ (Israel), the inflation aka the ‘Consumer Price Index’ (CPI) in Israel rose in August about 0.9%.

Over the past 12 months (August 2024 compared to August 2023) the CPI increased 3.6%, the CPI excluding housing increased 3.7%, the CPI excluding energy increased 3.5% and the CPI excluding vegetables and fruit increased 3.2%. (figures published by ‘Central Bureau of Statistics’.)

To compare: The inflation for example of Belgique (June 2023 – June 2024) is about 5.4%, the Netherlands 3.5%, and Austria 2.9%. All those states have no war.

So any “Bibi-bashing” and lefty panic orchesters are not sustained by facts. As usual.

Finally the ‘Central Bureau of Statistics’ wrote in its press release: “In August 2024 the seasonally adjusted CPI increased 0.7%, the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding housing and the seasonally adjusted CPI excluding vegetables, fruit, and housing increased 0.8%, each.

So, the situation is not bad, but it could be better. Because despite the war, which is undoubtedly driving inflation, there are home-grown causes such as the de facto lack of a free market and the oligarchic structures combined with an oppressive bureaucracy that costs a lot of money but brings little benefit.
