The ‘Tikva Forum’ Addresses Chief of Staff

The Israeli NGO “Tikva Forum”, which represents the largest advocacy group for the hostages’ families, issued today the following statement on X.

“Tell us, Herzi, what’s going on? Don’t you see that this is going nowhere? In Gaza, your method of entering and leaving without real occupation of the territory is not yielding results.

Many soldiers are sacrificing their lives, forced to repeatedly occupy territories that have already been cleared. In Lebanon, a fragile ceasefire leaves our soldiers at constant risk, and yesterday we were fired upon again by missiles. Is this your leadership? You are risking the lives of our soldiers without bringing about a decision on the ground. Where does it lead, Herzi?

Look at our history. In the Six-Day War, in just six days, we brought about a complete victory. Mota Gur, with his soldiers, entered the Western Wall and returned the heart of the nation to Israel. It was a moment of true victory, clear leadership and determination.

Arik Sharon, with heroism and courage, crossed the trench in the Yom Kippur War and changed the course of the war. His action not only led to a strategic victory but also reflected unparalleled courage.

Raful (note: Rafael Eitan), under his command, turned the tide in the Yom Kippur War. He achieved tremendous successes on the battlefield thanks to his determination, professionalism, and faith in the path.

Israel Tal, the “Father of the Israeli Tank,” led the armoured forces in complex operations on the southern front during the Yom Kippur War. Thanks to the combat doctrine he devised and the determination he demonstrated, the IDF forces achieved victory in Sinai. Tal was a symbol of heroism, strategic thinking, and exceptional leadership.

Moshe Peled, commander of the 7th Brigade, led the armoured forces in the Battle of the Valley of Lamentation. Thanks to his determined stand and leadership of his fighters against a formidable Syrian force, control of the Golan Heights was maintained, and a decisive victory was achieved in this important campaign. Peled was a model of sacrifice and courage that had no equal.

Whereas what about you, Herzi? We see only shuffling. Instead of decisions, we see a routine of fragile ceasefires and the absence of a clear strategy. We need heroic leadership to lead us to a decision. The people have risen and are thirsty for such leadership. Where does it lead? Where?”
