Yossi Dagan: Sovereignty Now. This Sunday.

In an interview with Channel 14 (Israel) today, Yossi Dagan stressed the necessity to declare sovereignty over Judea and Shomron. Yossi Dagan has been the head of the Shomron Regional Council since 2015.

Dagan’s numerous trips abroad have given him a growing foreign policy stature, and he enjoys considerable popularity not only in Shomron but also in Israel. He is a member of the Likud party, and some already see him as a potential successor to Netanyahu.

In a short and very successful visit to Hungary (1st to 3rd of September), Dagan gained further reputation in foreign affairs.

The mission of this short visit was to meet with senior Hungarian officials, including Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and Secretary of State Miklós Soltész, to oppose EU sanctions against Israel, block recognition of a Palestinian state, and garner support for Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. Mission accomplished.

Dagan was in the USA in March 2025, too. About 30 members of Congress and the Senate assured Yossi Dagan their support for Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Shomron.

After the political visit in Hungary to assure the Hungarian veto on the sanctions, Yossi Dagan, started a marathon of Zoom meetings with senior administration officials in Washington and presented sovereignty maps. Dagan emphasised: “The authority in Jerusalem needs a tailwind.” 30 members of the Senate and Congress have already responded that they will support, wrote Arutz Sheva.

In the light of today’s Islamic terror attack in Jerusalem, Dagan called for an iron fist against the “PA” (“Palestinian” Authority) and full application of Israeli sovereignty over Judea and Shomron.

In the interview with Channel 14, Yossi Dagan said that more than 30 members of Congress and the Senate in the United States have expressed support for applying sovereignty.

Dagan emphasised that “(…) the ball is not in Washington – it is in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Netanyahu and all Likud and right-wing ministers must make a historic decision as early as this coming Sunday. A fully right-wing government that does not apply sovereignty is being carried away by its mission and will leave a legacy for generations to mourn.“

Urgency is required as the YESHA Council stresses in a most recent post on X: “Only 13 days remain until the declaration of European countries on the recognition of the “Palestinian state” – a clear and immediate danger to the establishment of a terror state in the heart of the land. Time is running out. What will the Israeli government do?”
