Strange Potatoes

Why are so many potatoes so bad in Israel? Who hasn’t experienced it? A sack of potatoes bought at the supermarket. The expensive varieties. It starts with finding very large and very small potatoes in the potato sack. There’s no question of sorting. But it doesn’t end there.

Most of the potatoes are watery and largely tasteless (too low in starch content), and the same potato can have hard and soft spots after cooking. These are so-called “water potatoes.” How do they come about? Too much nitrogen, too much water added in one day, too early harvest, and improper storage.

The result is the “water potato,” which cooks irregularly, has too less starch, and lacks flavor. The profit for the largely socialist-run agriculture is right, and the consumer pays the far too high prices. In Europe, such potatoes are used for animal feed.

Israel, a socialist-styled economy where the consumer is irrelevant. No voter has sovereignty. His vote is expendable. Why? The government has no say, say critics. The rule is with the deep state and some left oligarchs.
