The Abraham Accords, as spearheaded and made possible by former U.S. President Donald Trump, are yielding more fruits of peace. The newly appointed Emirati Ambassador to Israel – Mohamed al Khaja – together with the largest non-profit platform for start-ups in Israel – Start-up Nation Central (SNC) – wants to establish a joint ‘task force’ for technical progress and cooperation between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Founded in 2013, the non-profit organization ‘Start-Up Nation Central’ helps address global challenges by linking Israeli technology solutions with multinational companies, governments, investors and NGOs from around the world.
Ambassador Mohamed al Khaja and Prof. Eugene Kandel, CEO of Start-Up Nation Central, discussed areas of collaboration, including joint events, conferences, and ongoing meetings and programs to help both sides learn more about each other’s tech ecosystems. Ambassador Mohamed al Khaja said, “”Israel’s tech innovation ecosystem, coupled with the UAE government’s forward momentum, are essential elements to accelerate incubator success through the formation of international partnerships.“”
The Embassy and Start-Up Nation Central teams further discussed opportunities to connect Emirati and Israeli companies and entrepreneurs, particularly in the areas of fintech, agri-food tech, education, cyber, training, digital health, energy, petrochemicals, cleantech and sustainability, according to SNC’s press release.
UAE-IL Tech Zone platform to be a central hub of cooperation
The ‘UAE-IL Tech Zone’ platform, as known to Glocalist readers, will play a central role as a hub for the envisioned cooperation. The release reads, “The parties agreed to use the UAE-IL Tech Zone community as part of the new relationship. Launched in December 2020, the UAE-IL Tech Zone is an innovation community designed to enable hands-on collaboration between the two ecosystems. With over 1,000 members already, the UAE-IL Tech Zone invites entrepreneurs, executives, government officials, and technology companies to join this community and cultivate the shared talents and resources of the UAE and Israel.” Glocalist is also part of this community.
