Kurz is named to the Honorary Advisory Council of the Abraham Accords Peace Institute by effect of the 14.11.2022.
Politics is institutionally very well represented in the ‘Abraham Accords’ and sets the tone. Business is obviously in the minority and does not yet have its own networks and torques outside of the political framework. Business needs to have more say.
After two years the ‘Abraham Accords’ brokered by former US-President Donald Trump and former and new Primer Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu is a tremendous success as the chart below shows simple and straight.
If they want to be a lasting success, the “Abraham Accords” should be more than just a diplomatic agreement and a matter between states: It is about grass-roots, about the people, about the economy.
And here not only the big names are needed, but the many small names of the small and medium-sized companies that are the foundation of any economy.
As Arye Lightstone writes: “The Abraham Accords, like any relationship, needs to be nurtured and expanded or it will wither and retreat.” And in a most recent opinion piece he writes: “Abraham Accords: Peace between people is more than just signing a paper“
On his appointment, former Chancellor Kurz said, “The Abraham Accords were a historic milestone and achieved what previously had been regarded as impossible. I am therefore honored to have the opportunity to become a member of the Honorary Advisory Council and to help sustain and expand the accords. I hope more countries will follow in their footsteps and look forward to the many ways Europe can make important contributions in the future.”
And on Twitter Kurz states: “The Abraham Accords, a series of bilateral agreements between Israel and Arab states in the region, aimed at normalizing relations between these states and promoting economic and cultural exchanges, were a historic milestone.“
In summary, Kurz is an awesome choice and for sure an enrichment both for the Institute and the ‘Abraham Accords’.

Die Politik ist im Rahmen der „Abraham Accords“ institutionell sehr gut vertreten und gibt den Ton an. Die Wirtschaft ist offensichtlich in der Minderheit und hat noch keine eigenen Netzwerke und Drehmomente außerhalb des politischen Rahmens etablieren können. Die Wirtschaft muss mehr zu Wort kommen.
Nach zwei Jahren ist das vom ehemaligen US-Präsidenten Donald Trump und dem ehemaligen und neuen Ministerpräsidenten von Israel, Benjamin Netanjahu, vermittelte „Abraham-Abkommen“ ein enormer Erfolg, wie die folgende Grafik beeindruckend zeigt.
Wenn die “Abraham Accords” nachhaltig erfolgreich sein wollen, sollten die „Abraham Accords“ mehr sein als nur ein diplomatisches Abkommen und eine Angelegenheit zwischen Staaten: Es geht um die Basis, um die Menschen, um die Wirtschaft.
Und hier sind nicht nur die großen Namen gefragt, sondern auch die vielen kleinen Namen der kleinen und mittelständischen Unternehmen, die das Fundament jeder Wirtschaft bilden.
Wie Arye Lightstone schreibt: „Das Abraham-Abkommen muss, wie jede Beziehung, gepflegt und ausgebaut werden, oder es wird verkümmern und sich zurückziehen.“ Und in einem aktuellen Meinungsbeitrag schreibt er: „Abraham Accords: Frieden zwischen Menschen ist mehr als nur die Unterzeichnung eines Papiers“
Altkanzler Kurz sagte zu seiner Ernennung: „Die Abraham-Vereinbarungen waren ein historischer Meilenstein und haben erreicht, was zuvor als unmöglich galt. Ich fühle mich daher geehrt, die Gelegenheit zu haben, Mitglied des Honorary Advisory Council zu werden und dabei zu helfen, die Vereinbarungen aufrechtzuerhalten und auszuweiten. Ich hoffe, dass weitere Länder in ihre Fußstapfen treten und freue mich auf die vielen Möglichkeiten, wie Europa in Zukunft wichtige Beiträge leisten kann.“
Und auf Twitter erklärt Kurz: „Die Abraham Accords, eine Reihe bilateraler Abkommen zwischen Israel und arabischen Staaten in der Region, mit dem Ziel, die Beziehungen zwischen diesen Staaten zu normalisieren, sowie den wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Austausch zu fördern, waren ein historischer Meilenstein.“
Zusammenfassend ist Kurz eine großartige Wahl und sicherlich eine Bereicherung sowohl für das Institut als auch für die „Abraham Accords“.
