Israeli MediTech raises $60 Million. Bearish market prospects are panic calls – D/E

The FoodTech, SpaceTechnology, MediTech and SustainabilityTech industries can enjoy a lively influx of investors in Israel, as well as new AI fields such as ‘Generative AI’ or on the hardware level the race for Quantum Supremacy.

The “traditional” hi-tech startups, many of which are ‘unicorns’ today, are stuck in a crisis called the market shakeout. A completely normal cycle that offers no cause for panic. Of course, this sideways movement is taking place under the most unfavorable global conditions. Keywords are war and covid causing a global recession.

However, overall, Israeli startups and companies are doing extremely well in global competition. In any case, it is not very plausible to speak immediately of the death of the unicorns, like Calacalist. The unicorns are not dead, the next ones are in the paddock as foals and that’s why seed investment is in demand among smart investors.

They are looking for new startups and early stage companies in the new boomimg industries like FoodTech, MedTech or SustainabilityTech to name a few. Pars pro toto the Israeli company ‘SonieVie’, based in Tel Aviv, can be said as a successful example of today.

SoniVie Ltd. , a medical device company developing a proprietary solution to treat hypertension, announced today the completion of a $60 million series C round financing. The financing was led by Andera Partners, with participation from Supernova Invest and Omega Funds. Current SoniVie shareholder TechWald also participated.

In conjunction with the financing, the Company appointed two renowned medtech experts to its Board of Directors, Raymond W. Cohen and Zeev Zehavi, as independent directors.

SoniVie has developed an ultrasound-based denervation technology with application in multiple therapeutic areas. TIVUS™ (Therapeutic Intra-Vascular Ultrasound System) employs high-frequency non-focused ultrasound energy to ablate nerves in the renal artery to decrease blood pressure.

This minimally invasive investigational procedure can be used to treat patients suffering from hypertension, which impacts millions of people worldwide and substantially increases their risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney failure.

TIVUS™ is – according to the company – the only ultra-sound denervation platform with active development programs in three therapeutic areas: pulmonary artery denervation for pulmonary hypertension, renal artery denervation for resistant hypertension, and lung denervation for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with chronic bronchitis.
