Prime Minister Netanyahu aptly said while arguing for a gradual approach to phasing it out, “UNRWA is an organization that perpetuates the Palestinian refugee problem, and perpetuates also the narrative of the so-called right of return, whose goal is the elimination of Israel. For these reasons, UNRWA should be shut down.”
Background is that the double-standard work of the UNRWA, which demonize and delegitimize the State of Israel, is in big budget trouble. In consequence the UNRWA made a visit to Oslo (Norway). UNRWA is a partisan entity with close ties to Hamas, wrote UN-Watch.

The reason is frankly said in the UNWRA press release which praised the role of Norway. And in fact, Norway together with Germany are the leading anti-Israeli forces in Europe and major donors to the UNRWA.
The UNRWA wrote: “Between 26 and 27 January, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, visited Oslo to hold meetings with key Norwegian interlocutors with a view to further deepen the strategic partnership with Norway, as well as to express his appreciation for Norway’s exceptional financial and political support to Palestine refugees.” and “Lazzarini thanked the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anniken Huitfeldt, for setting an excellent example of good donorship, “Norway should serve as an inspiration for other donors. The multiyear agreement signed in 2022 provides increased, predictable and flexible funding allowing the Agency to continue delivering basic services. I look forward to further deepening our strong partnership.”
On January 24, UNRWA was there unveiling its 2023 annual plan, where it begged for $1.6 billion to continue its digging and subversive work against Israel and so-called “Palestinians” in continued immaturity and dependence on Hamas to keep. Norway contributes around 125 million US dollars over a period of 4 years. To put it into relation: Saudi Arabia gave 2022 $27 million.
After 75 years it should be clear that the UNRWA failed and was and is a major factor fueling islamistic terrorism against the State of Israel.
