The ‘German Foreign Office’, also known in Germany as AA (Auswärtiges Amt), is politically headed by Annalena Baerbock from the ‘Green Party’ aka the ‘Greens’ (officially: ‘Bündnis 90/Die Grünen’).
The Greens are known in Germany for their – cum grano salis – aggressive anti-Semitism and rejection of Israel. They are not friends of Israel. In their decisions, the Greens are – cum grano salis – reliably against Israel.
They, the Greens, together with the Left and the SPD, can be assigned to left-wing anti-Semitism. Of course in the Sunday speeches, but there are fewer and fewer of them, they present themselves as friends and protectors of Judaism and like to regret the Shoah, always without consequences: Never again.
In these left-wing anti-Semitic circles, the fight against anti-Semitism is increasingly being mentioned in the same breath as the fight against “Islamophobia”. “A free and diverse press landscape is the cornerstone of every liberal democracy. In times of conflict especially, it is of crucial importance to protect the freedom of the press. The decision of the Israeli authorities to shut down #AlJazeera in Israel is the wrong signal.“
The storm of indignation was great. One of the main arguments was the fact that the Russian media ‘RT’ and ‘Sputnik News’ are banned in Germany. Rightly and correctly, I must admit. However,
- Condemning Israel for what you do yourself is measuring yourself by different standards. One for Jews, one for everyone else. This is called anti-Semitism.
- Al Jazeera is an anti-Semitic media engine spreading anti-Semitic lies. It does not belong to a liberal democracy like RT or Sputnik News. This means that the ban is not only legitimate but also necessary and ultimately legal because it was decided democratically.
