Deportation of Families of Terrorists Bill

Deportation of Families of Terrorists Bill approved by House Committee for second and third readings; Committee Chair MK Katz said: “Our hands will no longer be tied in the battle against terrorism.”

The press release details: “The House Committee, chaired by MK Ofir Katz (Likud), convened on Tuesday and voted, after a stormy debate, to approve for second and third readings the Deportation of Families of Terrorists Bill. In the vote, nine Members of the Knesset supported the bill, versus two who opposed it.

The bill proposes that the Minister of Interior be entitled to instruct, after holding a hearing, the deportation of a family member (father, mother, sister, son, daughter and spouse, including common-law spouse) of a terrorist to Gaza or to another destination that will be determined according to the circumstances, if they knew in advance about their family member’s plan to commit an act of terrorism and did not make all necessary efforts to prevent the act of terrorism from being committed, including reporting to the security services or the police.”

Critical note: The High Court must put in its place. The High Court will quickly paralyze this important law. Israel needs full justicial reform to end the rule of the unelected elites of the deep state. The second objection, why deport to Aza? Aza should be Jewish and taken by Israel. Terrorists' families should be deported to an Arab Muslim country. There are enough. Or they are declared as stateless aka refugees and handed over to the UNHCR.

The bill proposes that the terrorist’s family member will be entitled to present his case in the hearing, and will be entitled to legal representation. The minister will deliver his decision no later than 14 days from the date of the hearing. If he has decided to deport the family member, the minister will sign the deportation order on that date.

For the purpose of implementation of the law, the Israel Police will have the powers conferred upon it by law, including the power to enter any place and remove any person, and to use reasonable force for this purpose.

Minister of National Security MK Itamar Ben Gvir (Otzma Yehudit) thanked the bill’s sponsors, saying, “This bill must not stay on the shelf in the end, and for that reason, it’s important for the bill’s implementation to be in the hands of the police. If the law remains in the hands of the Ministry of Interior, it will be difficult to implement the law. There’s no difference between a father and a mother or a child or a grandparent, whoever supported a terrorist attack should be removed from the State of Israel. This bill is constitutional, moral and just, and I very much hope that the court does not intervene.
