Israel Must Prepare For War With Turkey (Nagel Committee)

The Israeli government’s ‘Committee for the Evaluation of the Defense Establishment Budget and the Balance of Power‘ (est. August 2023) is headed by former ‘National Security Council’ head Brigadier General (Res.)Yaakov Nagel after whom this committee is often named.

In its latest report, the ‘Nagel Committee’ sternly warned that Israel should prepare for a military confrontation with Turkey. This confrontation can unfold very quickly and is imminent.

As most recently reported on VonNaftali Turkey is establishing military bases in Syria and opened its first consult after 12 years in Damascus.

“The threat from Syria could evolve into something even more dangerous than the Iranian threat,” said the Nagel report. The report recommended raising the defence budget annually by 15 billion NIS for the next 5 years. Israel should bolster its Air Forces (more F15, drones etc.), Upgrading the air defence systems and building a real border with Jordan.

One recommendation is remarkable and true: Cultivating human capital which is regarded as critical. This is a keyword for the following observation. It remains completely incomprehensible why Israel does not rely on the many highly qualified Olim for intelligence research.

Israel can cover almost all the languages ​​of the world. This is against the background that the decision-makers rarely understand more than poor English. Israel was also taken by surprise on October 7th because of its lack of cultural competence. Israel currently understands neither its enemies nor its friends. This is a home-made problem that arises from ignorance and complacency.

Against all those backgrounds, Erdogan’s recent announcements to develop ballistic missiles with a range of 2,000 km must be understood as a real threat. Jerusalem is therefore within the reach of Islamist Turkey, which repeatedly emphasizes that it must conquer Jerusalem.

This means, Israel must also change its military doctrine according to the Nagel report. The report summarizes: “4. Moving from a “containment” and defence perspective to a “prevention” and preparedness perspective, alongside building capabilities for immediate and sometimes even disproportionate response. In addition, preparedness for preemptive and preemptive war.”

In other words: The ‘conceeeeeeeptia’ is dead. Oslo and disengagement are dead. That is a very good message and recommendation from the Nagel Committee.

German Threat: In this context, it must be seen that the left-wing green government of Germany is currently trying to form an alliance with the Turkish protectorate of Syria. This strategic strive for an alliance with anti-Jewish forces will remain a key vector of Germany, no mater which party rules. Germany must be viewed here as a hostile actor, or at least as an ambivalent actor. Germany will, as usual, try to play both sides, like Qatar, and then make opportunistic decisions. In any case, Germany should be viewed neither as a partner nor as an ally.

“The problem will intensify if the Syrian power becomes, in a practical way, a Turkish emissary, as part of the realization of the Turkish dream of returning the Ottoman crown to its former glory,” the Nagel report stated.

This threat scenario delineated by the Nagel Commission – Turkish imperialism in the guise of a new edition of an Islamic Ottoman Empire empowered by the Muslim Brotherhood financed by Qatar – has been discussed and elaborated on several times here on VonNaftali. As well as the need for Israel to finally have its own independent weapons production, as the Nagel Report emphasizes and demands, this has been argued again and again on this blog.

Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu said: “We are in the midst of a fundamental change in the situation in the Middle East. We have known for years that Iran is the greatest threat to us, both directly and through its proxies. We were of course concerned with damaging this axis, a very serious damage. But we are witnessing that A – it still exists, and B – that additional forces are entering the area, and we must always be prepared for what comes next.“

To avoid the next mistake: To fight Turkey (and Syria) effectively is not only a question of the military budget, and independence in arms production but also of understanding (again) the cultural codes of our enemies (Islamism, Leftism, Woke Reich) and friends and ending the rule of the unelected left elites of the deep state which is more and more endangering the democracy, the security and the economy of the Jewish State of Israel.

Israel, will it become more resilient and cope with the coming military challenges, must stop the drain of its citizens by lowering the costs of living (yes, it is only possible by a free market and not with a kind of socialist state-run market we have actually in Israel) and depowering the undemocratic rule of bureaucracy and deep state which is threatening free speech and democracy.
