The government has now discovered its Zionist streak and is investing in numerous projects that improve local infrastructure and the environment. In other words, the country is being rebuilt on the path of sustainability.

A fundamentally correct decision. Currently, as reported on this blog ‘VonNaftali’, one can cite, among other things, the creation of villages and communities in the Golan Heights.
The government approved today (15th of December) an amendment to the Ministry of Environmental Protection’s decision-making proposal (Government Decision No. 462 of April 20, 2023, “Plan to Strengthen Civil Resilience in Sderot and the Settlements Surrounding the Aza Strip”), which aims to provide total support of up to NIS 390 million to strengthen environmental and social resilience in the Aza Strip. That is awesome.
Minister of Environmental Protection Idit Silman: “The Ministry of Environmental Protection is leading a strategic investment that combines environmental innovation with strengthening the local community. The Badia waste facility is a symbol of a new era of sustainability and waste management in Israel. This is a revolution that is leading the country to a greener and cleaner future, while creating economic growth engines, improving the quality of life and protecting the environment. This is a strategic step that reflects Israel’s commitment to strengthening the communities surrounding Gaza and leading environmental change at the national level.”
Facts on the Ground
The waste treatment facility, the first of its kind in the State of Israel, is expected to treat approximately 200,000 tons of organic waste per year, including sawdust and sludge, and produce methane gas for use in electricity generation.
This move will significantly reduce landfilling of waste in the area. So far, the ministry has allocated approximately NIS 160 million for the construction of the facility and another NIS 140 million to assist in its ongoing operation.

The amendment will also allow for an increase in the Ministry of Environmental Protection’s support for the purchase of electric buses to transport students in the local authorities of Sdot Negev, Shaar Negev, Eshkol and Ashkelon Beach.
The support per bus will amount to up to 235,000 NIS. This measure will contribute to reducing air pollution and improving public health.
Side note: The press work of the Ministry of Environmental Protection is noteworthy, which shows a pile of manure as a symbolic image. This is not a symbolic image for a 390 million NIS project. Sorry. You can’t do that. One could call this unprofessional and the question arises as to who posts such images. Such images can damage the reputation of the State of Israel. See the picture suggested by the Ministry below attached to the press release from today (15.12.2024). Unbelievable.
