There are reports that ‘Turkish Airlines’ seeks to resume the highly profitable slot ‘Tel Aviv – Constantinople (Istanbul)’.
Turkish Wealth Fund: Holds a 49.12% stake in Turkish Airlines. This fund is managed by the government of Turkey, making the airline’s ownership predominantly state-controlled.
GLOBES reported that “If the Turkish airline does not return to operations in Israel soon, FlyDubai is expected to take over the vacated slots.”
FlyDubai is owned by the government of Dubai. It would be better because Dubai is at least part of the ‘Abraham Accords’ and does not threaten on a daily base to conquer Jerusalem and destroy Israel as the Islamic Turkish government does. Additionally, the Turkish low-cost airline ‘Pegasus’ is also said to come back to Ben Gurion Airport.
For both Turkish airlines, the route to Tel Aviv is just strategic to have an additional nod in the international connection grid reaching New York and other long-distance destinations.
This strategic advantage should be filled by El Al or by airlines from allies like US airlines. Israel should serve their allies and not support its enemy.
