Two Startup Nations: Israel and the USA. No EU University is in the Top 20.

Apologies to my US friends and readers. Yes, Israel was mentioned first because, in relation to its population, resources, and the hostile environment it operates in, Israel is and remains the world’s number one startup nation. Now, here are the facts, presented in an infographic.

Tel Aviv University retains its outstanding position among the world’s elite, ranked just after Stanford, Berkeley, MIT, University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard. TAU ranks ahead of leading universities such as Yale (12), University of California (13), and Princeton (15).

According to PitchBook, four additional Israeli universities were included in this year’s ranking: the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (10), the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (30), Reichman University (47), Ben-Gurion University (52), and Bar-Ilan University (90).

Among the five largest companies founded by Tel Aviv University alumni, PitchBook highlights: Generate ($4.3B), Lendbuzz ($1.2B), and Next Insurance ($1.1B), according to Tel Aviv University in its recent press release.

Israel remains the global powerhouse of innovation. It will be interesting to see how Europe intends to cope without Israel if Israel were to impose a boycott on research and innovation. Not a single European university is among the top 20, while Israel has two universities in that ranking. Any further questions?

The EU wants to boycott Israel? OK, bring it on. Let us see who will survive the boycott. The EU has nothing to offer.
