Bald ist es soweit! ‘MOMO‘, ein Tanzstück von Ohad Naharin in Zusammenarbeit mit den Tänzern der berühmten Batsheva Dance Company und Ariel Cohen, erlebt seine Uraufführung und steht am 10.01.2023 im Art’s Center Be’er Sheva erstmalig auf dem Programm der Bühnen der Welt.
Die Beschreibung des Stücks auf der Website der Company erlaubt einen Vorgeschmack auf die zu erwartende hochkarätige Tanzdarbietung und Inszenierung von ‘MOMO’:
“Der eine schickt lange Wurzeln in die Tiefen der Erde – eine Seele, die Archetypen und Mythen verhärteter, roher Männlichkeit verkörpert, und der andere ist ständig auf der Suche nach einer individuellen und unverwechselbaren DNA; das eine bewegt sich in seinem eigenen autonomen und unabhängigen Kraftfeld und das andere ist eine Konstellation von Elementen, die sich um denselben Kern drehen – abwechselnd von ihm weg und auf ihn zu driften, um Raum für notwendige Zärtlichkeit und Katharsis zu schaffen.”
Der Soundtrack des Stückes stammt größtenteils aus dem Album ‚Landfall‘ der legendären Laurie Anderson und vom ‚Kronos Quartet‘, einem der führenden Ensembles für zeitgenössische klassische Musik; er entfaltet auf der Bühne eine gemeinsame Leidenschaft von tiefer Trauer und Schönheit, so die Website.
Die Batsheva Dance Company ist eine der bekanntesten und anerkanntesten zeitgenössischen Tanzkompanien der Welt. Sie wurde 1964 von der Baroness Batsheva de Rothschild gegründet, die die grandiose Martha Graham zu ihrer künstlerischen Beraterin gewinnen konnte.
Ohad Naharin ist seit 2018 der Hauschoreograf der Batsheva Dance Company. Er trat 1974 der Batsheva Dance Company bei und gründete 1990 die Nachwuchsabteilung, das Batsheva – Youth Ensemble. Seitdem hat er über dreißig Werke für beide künstlerischen Ensembles der Dance Company geschaffen.
Aufführungen von ‘MOMO’ wird es auch in Europa zu sehen geben, so beispielsweise in Frankreich (03/23), der Schweiz (04/23), in Portugal (07/23) und in Italien (10/23).
Demnächst wird die Batsheva Dance Company im Rahmen eines Joint Ventures mir der Stadt Tel-Aviv einen ‚Art Campus‘ auf dem Gelände der historischen Zentralen Busstation im Süden Tel-Avivs eröffnen. Auf 5.500 Quadratmetern soll der neue Stammsitz des Tanztheaters entstehen und eine Bühne mit modernster Technik für 550 Zuschauer bieten. Der Campus sei eine Kombination von Form und Inhalt in seinem reinsten und erhabenen Ausdruck, so Ohad Naharin.

Soon ‘MOMO‘, a dance piece by Ohad Naharin in collaboration with the dancers of the famous Batsheva Dance Company and Ariel Cohen, will have its world premiere on January 10th, 2023 at the Art’s Center Be’er Sheva and is expected to be on the program of the world’s stages.
The description of the piece on the company’s website allows an insight of the dance performance and staging to come from ‘MOMO‘:
“MOMO has two souls. One sends long roots to the depths of the earth – a soul that embodies archetypes and myths of hardened, raw masculinity, and the other is in a constant search for an individual and distinct DNA; one moves within its own autonomous and independent force field and the other is a constellation of elements that spin around the same nucleus – alternately drifting away and towards it, making room for necessary tenderness and catharsis.”
The piece’s soundtrack comes mainly from the legendary Laurie Anderson‘s album ‘Landfall’ and from the ‘Kronos Quartet‘, one of the leading ensembles for contemporary classical music; he unfolds on stage a shared passion of deep sadness and beauty, according to the website.
Batsheva Dance Company is one of the best known and most respected contemporary dance companies in the world. It was founded in 1964 by Baroness Batsheva de Rothschild, who managed to win the grandiose Martha Graham as her artistic advisor for this project.
Ohad Naharin is the resident choreographer of Batsheva Dance Company since 2018. He joined Batsheva Dance Company in 1974 and in 1990 founded the company’s junior division, Batsheva – Youth Ensemble. He has since created over thirty works for both Company’s artistic ensembles.
There will also be performances of MOMO in Europe, for example in France (03/23), Switzerland (04/23), Portugal (07/23) and Italy (10/23).
Batsheva Dance Company, as part of a joint venture with the city of Tel-Aviv, will soon open an ‘Art Campus‘ on the historic site of the Central Bus Station in southern Tel-Aviv. The new headquarters of the dance theater will be built on 5,500 square meters and will offer a stage with the state-of-the-art stage technology for 550 spectators.
