Minister of Economy and Industry, Nir Barkat said: “The new institute is expected to serve as an important milestone in adapting Israeli industry to changes in the global market, promoting operational efficiency and reducing environmental damage. Israeli companies will become more innovative, and more economical and have improved competitiveness. We will ensure that Israeli industry not only maintains relevance in the international arena but also leads trends in innovation and sustainable economic growth.

The institute will provide unique assistance for the rehabilitation of industry and farms in the Aza Envelope – which was severely damaged following the genocidal attack of October 7 by the Iranian terror organization Hamas – through innovation and resource efficiency.

Success Story

In recent years, the two institutes operated by the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Ministry of Environmental Protection – the Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and the Center for Resource Efficiency – have helped more than 800 companies in the local industry improve labour productivity and reduce environmental impact, and have recorded impressive achievements:

  • An average improvement of about 17% in labour productivity
  • Savings of hundreds of millions of kWh of electricity and hundreds of thousands of tons of raw materials
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than half a million tons
  • Preventing the landfilling of hundreds of thousands of tons of waste

The new model is expected to enhance these achievements and create another significant boost to the Israeli economy while adapting the industry to global trends, such as a circular and low-carbon economy.
