Dear friends in science & innovation from Israel. Last year (September/October 2025), I’ve, the owner of this blog vonnaftali, published several papers on ‘Science – Kabbalah – Philosophy‘ – precursors to founding an ‘Institute of Kabbalah, Philosophy and Science‘ (in formation) in Israel. Open-minded investors are welcomed.
On the 20th of October 2025 Figshare suspended my account without warning, wiping years of work. Figshare is platform to share scientific papers and to get a DOI which is important to claim IP (Intellectual Property).
The likely trigger? Maybe, the transparent disclosure of deploying complex software tools for complex calcs – tools every scientist uses, from Excel, LLMs to AI. But as an independent researcher, that’s apparently a red flag, maybe. Maybe there are other reasons. I don’t know. So far, Figshare can’t even find me in its system, though I existed as the screenshot above proves. Strange.
Exploring alternatives to Figshare revealed the harsh truth: The global academic ecosystem isn’t free or independent. It’s a bureaucratic mill where ‘middlemen’ rake in billions, trapping great ideas in the Valley of Death.
Few platforms welcome non-institutional voices using modern tech – and ‘decentralized’ ones often demand weird barriers like crypto wallets (crypto wallets – because nothing says ‘open science’ like mining Ethereum). Frustrating, but eye-opening. Quickly some additional strange behaviour of Google and WordPress.com added up. For sure, all concidence. No conspiracy.
