This overview records terrorist attacks based on open source reports directed against Israelis from 1 August 2026 through 23 September 2026. It draws on contemporaneous reporting by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, statements circulated by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, IDF and Shin Bet announcements, and the public chronicle of significant incidents. The period under review is one of persistent low-to-medium intensity Islamic terrorism concentrated in Judea and Shomron, punctuated by a murder on the eve of Yom Kippur.
Terminology follows a consistent usage. Perpetrators are identified as Islamic terrorists or Muslim terrorists. The territory commonly misnamed the West Bank is referred to throughout as Judea and Shomron. The adjective ‘Palestinian’ is retained only in quotation marks, as it’s an inventend ethnicity.
From 1 January through 31 July 2026 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recorded 2,335 ‘Palestinian’ terrorist attacks carried out and 2,285 additional plots foiled. Four Israelis were murdered and sixty-seven wounded in those seven months. The daily average exceeded ten attack attempts. The organisations named by the Ministry were Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Fatah-affiliated cells. The methods included shootings, improvised explosive devices, rammings, and the Palestinian Authority’s so-called pay-for-slay stipends.
By mid-to-late September, open compilations listed at least five Israelis killed and more than seventy wounded in significant incidents for the year as a whole, excluding war deaths and rocket or missile fire. Most attacks in August and September consisted of shootings, stabbings, attempted rammings, stone-throwing and attempts to seize weapons. The majority were intercepted. When an Islamic terrorist reached a civilian target, the cost was immediate and irreversible.
August 2026.
12 August. Magen Abraham Farm, Gush Etzion. More than thirty rioters attacked Jews at Magen Abraham Farm in eastern Gush Etzion. Two Israelis sustained light head injuries. Nine islamic terrorists were arrested.
13 August. Near Hawara. Muslim terrorists threw stones at a vehicle near Hawara and lightly injured a nine-year-old girl, who received treatment at the scene.
21 August. Jenin. Fathi Hazem, an Islamic terrorist and the father of the perpetrator of the 2022 Dizengoff Street shooting, attempted to stab an IDF soldier during an operation in the Jenin area. He was shot dead. No Israeli casualties.
23 August. Al-Auja, Jordan Valley. A sixteen-year-old Islamic terrorist stabbed Elchanan Hanania, a twenty-four-year-old career soldier from Beitar Illit travelling with his family on Route 90. Hanania was moderately wounded in the shoulder and back and later stabilised. The Islamic terrorist was captured after a manhunt involving Duvdevan and air assets. Hamas praised the attack.
23 August. Rimmonim, eastern Shomron. An Islamic terrorist attempted to snatch an IDF soldier’s personal weapon in Rimmonim. The soldier killed him. No Israeli casualties.
September 2026, before Erev Yom Kippur.
4 September. Damascus Gate, Jerusalem. A thirty-three-year-old East Jerusalem resident, an Islamic terrorist, approached Border Police officers at Damascus Gate and attempted to stab them. He was shot dead. No Israeli injuries.
7 September. Road 505 / Maoz Yehuda Farm. A Muslim terrorist from Qabalan stabbed an Israeli from Maoz Yehuda Farm south of Road 505, wounding him moderately to severely. The victim fought back and filmed the attacker’s vehicle. Forces later located and killed the Islamic terrorist.
11 and 15 September. Al-Bireh. An attempted ramming during an IDF patrol and a subsequent attempt to snatch a soldier’s weapon were stopped by fire. The Islamic terrorists were killed or fled. No Israeli casualties.
Throughout August and early September the Shin Bet, IDF and police dismantled Hamas-linked Islamic networks, seized weapons and arrested dozens of suspects. Foiled schemes included an Islamic Nablus cell that acquired rifles and discussed assassinating National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, kidnapping a soldier and using explosive vehicles or drones; ISIS-inspired plots against the Temple Mount and an IDF base; and a large Muslim Hamas infrastructure in Judea and Shomron recruiting cells for attacks on civilians and security forces.
Erev Yom Kippur, 20 September 2026.
Yom Kippur began at sundown on Sunday, 20 September 2026. That morning and early afternoon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a timed chronology of Islamic terrorist attacks across Judea and Shomron. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar amplified the Ministry’s account of the murder of Netanel Shakron and later publicly demanded that those who speak of values first condemn the murderer of a Jewish father in front of his son.
The Ministry’s chronology.
11:30. Shooting at Ein Raya spring, near Neveh Tzuf (Halamish), Binyamin. An Islamic terrorist opened fire from a passing vehicle on Israelis who had come to immerse themselves before the fast. Netanel Shakron (also reported as Chkroun / Shukrun), forty-eight, a father of six from Alei Zahav and an information-systems analyst, was murdered in front of his sixteen-year-old son Yoav. In his last moments he shouted a warning that allowed Yoav to flee. An IDF tracker wounded the Islamic terrorist as he fled on foot. Hours later Duvdevan arrested him at a hospital near Ramallah. The Islamic terrorist was identified as Qadri Samara, thirty-seven, a Hamas operative from Biddu, previously known to the security services. He had scouted the spring the day before. The Islamic Hamas praised the attack. The Ministry later placed photographs of the murdered father and of Samara side by side: both had gone that morning to what each regarded as sacred; their paths crossed at the spring. IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir called the attack severe and ordered closures and investigations in Biddu. National Security Minister Ben-Gvir advocated the death penalty.
12:36. Attempted ramming near Jenin / Ganim, northern Shomron. Two Muslim terrorists in a vehicle attempted to ram IDF soldiers of the Paratroopers’ 890th Battalion at a checkpoint near Ganim. Troops opened fire, killing one Islamic terrorist and arresting the second. No Israeli soldiers were injured.
13:08. Terroristic assault in a ‘Palestinian’ village, Hebron Hills. An Israeli who had mistakenly entered a ‘Palestinian’ village in the Hebron Hills was attacked and injured, according to the Ministry’s contemporaneous list.
13:39. Attempted ramming at Rimonim Junction, Binyamin. A further attempted ramming was reported against IDF troops at Rimonim Junction. No soldiers were hurt; the Muslmi terrorist was arrested at the scene.
13:42. Attempted ramming near Silwad. An Islamic terrorist tried with a vehicle to ram two Israelis near Silwad and then fled.
The Ministry summarised the day: This is the reality of ‘Palestinian’ terror: Israelis targeted for being Israeli, even on the eve of our holiest day. Prime Minister Netanyahu ordered reinforcements, closures and offensive operations in Judea and Shomron. The home of the Islamic terrorist killed in the Ganim ramming was slated for demolition.
Diaspora. Sons of Jacob Synagogue, Belleville, Ontario. On the evening of 20 September, as Yom Kippur began, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs separately condemned an Islamic terrorist attack at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville, Ontario, where worshippers had gathered for Kol Nidrei. A police officer stationed outside, Constable Jeff Smith, was seriously wounded after intercepting the terrorist; congregants inside were unharmed. Israel described the terror attack as a further escalation of antisemitic violence against a Jewish community on the holiest day of the year.
Pattern and meaning.
The eight weeks from 1 August to 23 September do not present a new war so much as the continuation of a campaign. Islamic terrorist organisations and so-called lone Muslim terrorists maintain a high tempo of attempts in Judea and Shomron. Israeli forces intercept most of them. The interception rate is not a consolation to the family of Netanel Shakron, nor to the wounded of Al-Auja and Maoz Yehuda. It is, however, the condition under which ordinary life in Judea and Shomron proceeds.
Rocket and drone fire from Gaza and Lebanon continued in this window at a lower intensity than in earlier phases of the multi-front conflict and was directed primarily at troops rather than producing mass-casualty civilian attacks inside Israel. Islamic Hezbollah employed explosive drones against forces in southern Lebanon; Israel answered with strikes and the destruction of tunnel complexes. These military exchanges lie adjacent to, but are distinct from, the catalogue of Islamic terrorist attacks against civilians and soldiers recorded above.
The Ministry’s warning remains the proper close. The world has much to say about Judea and Shomron and far less about the Islamic terrorism practised there. One cannot ignore that Islamic terrorism and pretend to understand the land.
Note on sources and terms. Principal public sources include the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs posts of 20 and 23 September 2026; statements and republications by Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar; IDF and Shin Bet announcements; the Jerusalem Post, Times of Israel, Israel Hayom and related Israeli reporting; and the running Hebrew chronicle of significant attacks against Israelis in 2026. Casualty totals for the full year remain unofficial until the annual Shin Bet report. This article employs a conservative definition of terror. In my view, the mere existence of a terrorist entity constitutes terrorism.
